How to make a New York charging stop easier
- Decide first whether you need destination charging or a fast range boost. If the car will sit for several hours, Level 2 can be a better fit than driving out of the way for DC fast charging.
- Check the parking rules separately from the charger listing. A charger being public does not automatically mean the surrounding parking is free or unrestricted.
- Use the borough, neighborhood or destination as the search location. New York City is too large for a single citywide result list to be useful on a phone.
- If you are driving out of the city, leave enough battery margin to avoid turning a bridge or tunnel backup into an urgent charging problem.
